How we handle your past-due accounts
When you hand over an account, we do not let it sit. Our staff begins working it right away, because a prompt response is usually the best chance of getting an account moving.
This is part of our wider collection services, which are run from our office at 11 Cherry St. in Wellsboro.
Whether you are a small business with a handful of overdue invoices or an office with a longer list, the approach is the same: prompt action, clear paperwork and regular reporting back to you.
Past-due account collection step by step
Every account is different, but the general flow looks like this:
- You turn over the past-due account to us.
- We confirm the account back to you in writing.
- Our staff works the account immediately.
- When a payment is received from the debtor, it is reported to you on your monthly remittance statement.
Because results depend on each situation, we cannot promise how any account will turn out.
A written record of what you turned over
Good records protect your business. We confirm the accounts you place with us in writing, so you have a clear record of what was turned over.
If you are unsure whether an account is in our files, call 570-724-1041 and we can help you check.
Keeping your own list current is a good habit too. Before you place accounts, it can help to gather the basic details you have on each one so the hand-off goes smoothly.
Monthly remittance statements
Each month you receive a remittance statement. It gives you a regular picture of your placed accounts and what has been received, which makes it simpler to update your own books.
Cost and credit reporting
There is no cost to you until a payment is received from the debtor. See collections with no cost until we are paid for more on that.
Accounts can also be placed on Experian so the collection appears when someone pulls the report. More detail is on our Experian reporting page. When you are ready to place accounts, contact us.
