How collection reporting works
Credit reporting agencies gather information about people and businesses and make it available to those who are authorized to view it. A collection account placed on a credit report is generally one of the items a lender or other reviewer may notice.
Our office can place accounts on Experian, which is one of the national credit reporting agencies.
Reporting can be useful for a business that wants an unpaid account to be seen by others who check the debtor's credit. It is one option among the steps we take on an account.
Reporting a collection account to Experian through our office
If you have turned over a past-due account, you can ask us about having it placed on Experian. Once it is there, loan officers, or anyone else pulling the report, will see the collection nationwide.
We cannot promise any result from reporting an account.
If you are not sure whether reporting fits a particular account, call 570-724-1041 and we will talk it through with you.
Part of a complete collection service
Reporting is an added piece of a service that also includes prompt, hands-on work:
- Staff works your accounts immediately.
- Accounts are confirmed to you in writing.
- There is no cost to you until a payment is received from the debtor.
- You receive a monthly remittance statement.

Why the credit bureau matters
The Credit Bureau of Wellsboro is a member of the Consumer Data Industry Association (CDIA). As a local office, we can explain how reporting fits with your collection and answer your questions by phone.
We do not offer advice on credit scores or on the legal effect of a report. Please consult an appropriate professional for that.
