Property deeds in the bulletin
A deed is generally the document used to transfer ownership of real property from one party to another. When deeds are registered at the courthouse, they become part of the public record, and our bulletins list them.
The weekly list gives you a view of property transfers in the three counties we cover.
Deeds are listed together with mortgages because the two often go hand in hand in a property transaction. Reading them in the same bulletin gives you a fuller picture of the week's property activity.
New mortgages
A mortgage is typically a loan secured by real property, and a record of it is generally placed on the public record. The bulletin lists new mortgages as a separate section so they are easy to find.
Generally, a new mortgage entry indicates that a loan secured by property has been registered. The bulletin reports the entry and leaves the interpretation to you.
Satisfied mortgages
When a mortgage has been paid off, a record showing it as satisfied is typically registered. Our bulletins list mortgages satisfied in their own section, which helps you see when a loan is reported as resolved.
Satisfied entries matter because they show that a previously recorded loan has been reported as resolved. As always, the original record is the place to confirm the details.
Looking deeper into a property
A bulletin reports recent activity. It is not a search of a property's history. If you need a closer look at a specific parcel, see our title searches and property searches, which are separate services handled by our searchers.
For broader coverage of recorded activity, visit the public records overview.
The bulletins and the searches serve different needs: one gives a regular weekly overview, the other a focused look at a single property. Ask us which fits your situation.
If you have questions about what the bulletin includes or how to place an order, our staff is glad to answer them by phone during office hours.
